How to create a mood board for your business branding

Creating a mood board can be very useful prior to creating your business branding. I find it helps the client really pinpoint want they really like in terms of fonts, colours, imagery etc. So what will feel like a jumbled mess in their head is actually a distinct style that they didn't realise they had, as there is always a common thread running through every Pinterest board created by my clients. This part is actually a lot of fun!

WHERE DO YOU START?
I find Pinterest is the best place to create the beginnings of a mood board, as you can pin from all topics to your board. ( note: make your board a secret one ). Think about pinning from colour palettes, home decor, interiors, lifestyle, florals, fonts, branding, stationery, photography flat lays, textures etc.

NOW WHAT?
Once you've finished. Sit back and look really hard at what you've pinned. Is there some common colours that you've chosen, some similar fonts, maybe some similar style images? Do you notice you have pinned mostly upbeat imagery or very calming images? These are the key things to creating your own brand style - these are your magic things!

OK, I'VE FIGURED THEM OUT NOW...
I would print and cut them out ( with their credits if you can ) so you always have a reference to these. And from here you are one step closer to your branding journey... you now have a good feel for what you love and feel inspired by.
