CLIENT: LEAH HOSKIN PHOTOGRAPHY

PROJECT: FULL RE BRAND

I met Leah from Leah Hoskin Photography moons ago. It might have been when our kids started school. Leah was doing a photography here in Te Awamutu. Since then we've spent the years chatting kids and work, worked together on a school cookbook, referred each other for jobs, Leah is even my photographer for my business... and recently, a dream come true I got to do Leah's re-brand.

Getting started

Leah specialises in maternity, birth and family photography. She is really good at capturing peoples real emotions, and loves to get all the raw goodness of the moment.

We started with Leah creating a Pinterest board. This helps us to see what inspired her. This is where I discovered Leah's love for brown, green colour palettes, modern fonts with a twist, florals particularly cherry blossoms.

After a discovery session about Leah's business and study of her Pinterest board I created a mood board. This helped to set the tone and direction for the look of Leah's new branding.

Next...

To begin I did some sketching to brainstorm ideas, plus some drawings of cherry blossoms that would feature as an icon in Leah's new branding. Leah has a cherry blossom tattoo on her arm and these are her favourite flower.

Leah was provided with a fully developed concept of her new logo, with all the additional versions and icons, plus mockups so she can how it will all look.

We worked through a couple of proofs until we had these goodies. These are some of her finalised elements of her brand re-fresh. This is her primary logo which will feature in most places.

Stacked logo. Perfect for when a more condensed size logo is required - shorter / less wider. So this one worked great for her social media profile.

Brand mark. A really clean simple initial logo which Leah can use as a watermark on her photos, and just when a really simple “brand mark” is required.

Icon. Leah has several of these and in varying colours. But this is my favourite. We’ll be able to use these across her digital & print spaces to add extra wow.

And then we have her yummy earthy colour palette to compliment Leah and her brand. I’ve supplied her with a full visual brand guide so she has a reference to her colours, fonts and how to use her logo elements.

A few mockups I had included in her concepts so Leah could see how her logos would work across different platforms. Plus a sweet brand board to see the finished visual identity for Leah Hoskin Photography.

And that’s how we refreshed the branding for Leah.
